Terms and conditions
What you are entitled to, what we expect from you, and what happens when a flight is late or a journey is cancelled.
Version 1.1 — in force since 16 September 2026
This English version is provided for convenience. In the event of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.
1. Scope and definitions
These terms and conditions (the "Terms") govern all passenger transport services provided by Valais Prestige Transport Sàrl, Rue du Coppet 12, 1870 Monthey, UID CHE-145.861.565 ("VPT" or "the Provider").
Any booking, whatever the channel used — website form, e-mail, phone, WhatsApp, hotel partner or intermediary — implies the client's ("the Client") unreserved acceptance of these Terms.
These Terms take precedence over any general purchasing conditions of the Client, unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing. Any special conditions agreed in writing supplement them and prevail over them in the event of conflict.
Definitions
- Private hire journey: private carriage of passengers performed exclusively by prior booking, at a price agreed in advance, without a taximeter and without picking up passengers on the public highway. This is VPT's main activity.
- Taxi journey: carriage of passengers performed under the municipal permit issued pursuant to art. 154 of the Valais Roads Act, with a taximeter and at the municipality's official tariff. A secondary activity of VPT, governed by article 16.
- Service: any private hire or taxi journey, hourly chauffeur service or bespoke service.
- Passenger: any person carried, whether or not they are the Client.
- Confirmation: written message — e-mail or WhatsApp — by which VPT accepts the booking and sets out its terms, price included.
2. Nature of the services
2.1 Main activity — pre-booked private transport
- airport and railway station transfers: Geneva, Zurich, Sion, Bern, Basel, Milan, Lyon;
- transfers to and from the ski resorts and hotels of Valais and the Chablais;
- hourly or daily chauffeur service, vehicle and driver included;
- event transport: weddings, seminars, corporate evenings;
- long-distance journeys within Switzerland and to neighbouring countries.
These journeys are performed by prior booking only. VPT does not ply for hire and does not pick up clients hailing the vehicle on the public highway, except under article 16.
2.2 Secondary activity — taxi journeys
As a secondary activity, VPT performs taxi journeys within the limits of its type B municipal permit, issued by the municipality of Monthey. These journeys are subject to article 16, which prevails over the other provisions of these Terms.
2.3 Qualifications
Chauffeurs hold a category B driving licence with the professional passenger transport endorsement (code 121, art. 25 OAC) and comply with the rules on working and rest periods (OTR 2). The vehicle is covered by third-party liability insurance suited to the professional carriage of passengers.
3. What is included
Unless the Confirmation states otherwise, the price announced for a journey includes:
- the vehicle and the chauffeur's remuneration;
- fuel, motorways, the Swiss motorway vignette and the tolls of the agreed route within Switzerland;
- the statutory insurance covering passengers;
- flight or train tracking when the number has been given to us, and adjustment of the pick-up time within the limits of article 8;
- Wi-Fi, heated seats and charging sockets on board;
- child seats and booster seats, on request at the time of booking;
- the chauffeur's name and phone number, sent to the Client in advance;
- assistance by phone and WhatsApp, around the clock.
The price announced is all-inclusive: no administration fee, no booking supplement and no commission is added to it. The only possible surcharges are those of articles 5.2 and 8.1. For journeys leaving Switzerland, the foreign tolls and vignettes of the agreed route are invoiced in addition, at cost; their estimated amount appears on the Confirmation. Any exceptional cost arising from a specific request by the Client — long-stay parking, sea crossing, chauffeur accommodation on a multi-day journey — is agreed in writing before the journey or is not payable.
4. Booking
4.1 How to book
Bookings are made through the website form, by e-mail (info@valaisprestigetransport.ch), by phone or WhatsApp (+41 78 345 00 51), or through a partner.
The Client provides: pick-up date and time, precise pick-up and destination addresses, number of passengers, number and type of luggage, flight or train number where applicable, the mobile number of a passenger who can be reached on the day, and any special request (child seat, animal, intermediate stop, ski equipment, accessibility needs).
4.2 Formation of the contract
The contract is formed only once the Client has received a written Confirmation from VPT. A booking request, or a price displayed by the website calculator, does not bind VPT until that Confirmation has been sent.
VPT may decline a booking, in particular where the vehicle is unavailable, where the request is incompatible with safety or regulations, or where a previous invoice remains unpaid. Any sums already paid are then refunded in full.
4.3 Notice
There is no minimum booking notice: requests are taken 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and handled as quickly as possible. For an early-morning flight or a trip up to a resort in high season, booking the day before remains strongly recommended: beyond the vehicle's availability, it lets us anticipate road conditions.
4.4 Accuracy of information
The Client alone is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided and for checking it on the Confirmation received. Any additional cost resulting from incorrect or incomplete information is borne by the Client, and VPT accepts no liability for a service that could not be performed as a result.
5. Prices
5.1 How prices are set
Prices are expressed in Swiss francs. VPT is not registered for value added tax: the amounts announced are net prices, to which no tax is added.
Journeys are charged at CHF 3 per kilometre, on the road distance between the pick-up point and the destination, plus a pick-up fee of CHF 10 per journey. The website calculates this distance automatically and displays the amount as an estimate, confirmed before departure. A few frequent journeys, marked as such in the price list published on the booking page, have a fixed price that replaces this calculation. Only the price stated on the Confirmation is binding.
A return journey completed within the same day benefits from a 10 % discount on the total price of both legs.
Hourly chauffeur services are charged by the hour, for a minimum of three hours, with 30 kilometres included per hour booked. Beyond that mileage, each additional kilometre is charged at CHF 2.50. The hourly rate decreases with the duration booked, according to the scale published on the "Hourly chauffeur" page.
Quotes are valid for 30 days.
5.2 Night surcharge
A single surcharge applies to journeys: + 15 % for a departure between 10 pm and 6 am. On an hourly chauffeur service, it applies only to the hours actually falling within that window, not to the whole booking.
There is no Sunday, public holiday, luggage, chauffeur meal or high season supplement. Waiting time beyond the complimentary allowance is covered by article 8.
5.3 Price changes
VPT may change its prices at any time, without effect on bookings already confirmed.
6. Payment
6.1 Payment methods
Payment is made in cash on board (Swiss francs), by TWINT, by card on the vehicle's terminal, by bank transfer, or on invoice for corporate clients and partners.
No payment takes place on the website: it has no basket, no client account and no card form. VPT does not store any card data.
6.2 Deposit
VPT may make the confirmation of a booking conditional on the payment of a deposit where the amount of the service justifies it, in particular for event services, long-duration chauffeur services and international journeys.
The deposit amounts to 15 % of the total price. It is communicated to the Client before they commit and appears on the Confirmation. It is paid by bank transfer or TWINT, as no payment takes place on the website.
The booking is only definitively secured once the deposit has been received. If it is not paid within the stated period, VPT may freely release the slot, without compensation.
If the Client cancels, the deposit is set off against the cancellation fees due under article 7.2, and any surplus is returned to the Client. In the event of a no-show within the meaning of article 7.3, it is retained by VPT. If VPT cancels within the meaning of article 7.4, it is refunded in full.
6.3 Payment terms and late payment
Unless agreed otherwise, invoices are payable within 10 days of issue.
On the due date, the Client is in default without prior reminder (art. 102 para. 2 of the Swiss Code of Obligations, CO). Default interest of 5 % per year (art. 104 CO) is payable, together with a reminder fee of CHF 20 from the second reminder. Collection and debt enforcement costs are borne by the Client. VPT may suspend any current or future service in the event of non-payment.
7. Changes, cancellation and no-show
7.1 Changes by the Client
Any request for a change — time, route, number of passengers — must be made in writing and takes effect only once VPT has confirmed it in writing. It may lead to a price adjustment.
7.2 Cancellation by the Client
Any cancellation must be notified in writing and takes effect only once VPT has acknowledged receipt. The following fees apply to the total price. Any deposit paid is set off against these fees: if the cancellation falls within the free-of-charge period, it is returned in full.
a) Transfers and single journeys
| Notice before pick-up | Fee |
|---|---|
| More than 12 hours | Free of charge |
| Between 4 and 12 hours | 50 % |
| Less than 4 hours, or no-show | 100 % |
b) Hourly chauffeur services, event services and international journeys
| Notice before pick-up | Fee |
|---|---|
| More than 48 hours | Free of charge |
| Between 24 and 48 hours | 50 % |
| Less than 24 hours, or no-show | 100 % |
7.3 No-show
A no-show occurs when the Passenger fails to appear at the agreed place by the end of the waiting time provided for in article 8, without having notified VPT. The chauffeur attempts to reach the Client on the number provided; if there is no answer within a reasonable time, the chauffeur may leave. The service is then payable in full.
7.4 Cancellation by VPT
VPT may cancel in the event of force majeure, traffic or weather conditions making the journey dangerous, breakdown, accident, unavailability of the chauffeur or breach by the Client.
VPT then endeavours to offer a replacement solution of equivalent quality, where appropriate through a partner company, or refunds the sums paid for the cancelled service, to the exclusion of any other compensation.
7.5 No right of withdrawal
Transport services on a fixed date are not subject to a right of revocation within the meaning of art. 40a et seq. CO. Only the cancellation conditions above apply.
8. Punctuality and waiting time
8.1 Complimentary waiting time
| Pick-up point | Complimentary waiting time | Counted from |
|---|---|---|
| Address: home, hotel, company | 15 minutes | Agreed time |
| Airport | 1 hour | Actual landing time |
| Railway station | 1 hour | Actual arrival time |
Beyond that, waiting is charged at CHF 80 per hour, per 15-minute period started. This amount is announced at the time of booking.
8.2 Flights and trains
VPT tracks flight and train times as soon as the corresponding number has been given at the time of booking, and adjusts the pick-up time accordingly. No supplement is charged for a delay covered by the complimentary waiting time above. The Client does not need to call from the plane or book a second journey.
If no number has been given, no adjustment can be required, and the Passenger's absence at the agreed time constitutes a no-show.
In the event of a significant delay, cancellation or diversion of the flight, VPT endeavours to reschedule the pick-up according to its availability; a supplement may then be agreed.
8.3 Delay on VPT's part
VPT does everything possible to keep to the agreed times. Given the uncertainties of traffic, weather conditions and the accessibility of mountain roads, arrival times are indicative and do not constitute a guaranteed result.
9. Performance of the service
9.1 Vehicle
VPT operates a Mercedes-Benz V 300, clean, maintained, compliant with the regulations in force and equipped for the season — winter tyres and snow chains where required.
If the vehicle is out of service, VPT may provide a replacement vehicle of equivalent or higher category, without the Client being able to rely on this to cancel the service or claim a price reduction.
9.2 Route
The choice of route rests with the chauffeur, who gives priority to safety, road traffic regulations and efficiency. The chauffeur may refuse a requested route if they consider it dangerous or non-compliant.
9.3 Capacity
The vehicle is approved for six passengers and six suitcases, the boot being separate from the cabin. The number of passengers and pieces of luggage may not exceed the number stated at the time of booking or the approved capacity. Above six people, the service is organised in several rotations, agreed in advance. The chauffeur may refuse any excess passenger or luggage, without refund.
9.4 Children
In accordance with Swiss law, children under 12 years of age who are less than 150 cm tall must be carried in an approved child restraint. The Client states the children's age and height at the time of booking so that suitable seats can be provided. If this is not announced, VPT may refuse to carry them without refund. The Client may provide their own seat.
9.5 Conduct on board
Passengers undertake to follow the safety instructions and wear their seat belt, not to smoke or vape, not to use drugs, not to consume alcohol on board without prior agreement, and to behave respectfully towards the chauffeur and the vehicle.
The chauffeur may end the service at a safe place in the event of dangerous, aggressive or unlawful behaviour, or of intoxication compromising safety. The service remains payable in full.
9.6 Animals
The carriage of animals must be announced at the time of booking and is subject to prior agreement. Animals travel in a carrier or on suitable protection.
9.7 Soiling and damage
Any abnormal soiling — vomiting, spilled drinks, stains — attributable to a Passenger gives rise to cleaning costs, invoiced at cost and against supporting documents.
Any damage to the vehicle is invoiced at the cost of repair, plus compensation for the vehicle being out of service for the duration of the work. VPT reserves the right to claim compensation up to the amount of the loss suffered and, where the facts justify it, to file a criminal complaint.
These sums are payable immediately. The Client is liable for damage caused by the Passengers they have had carried.
10. Luggage and personal belongings
Luggage is carried under the Client's responsibility; it is up to the Client to check the number of items on departure and on arrival.
VPT accepts no liability for valuables — cash, jewellery, electronic equipment, documents, instruments — which must remain with the Passenger.
The carriage of dangerous or illicit goods is prohibited. The chauffeur may refuse any suspicious or non-compliant luggage.
Lost property: items found are kept for 30 days, then handed over to the competent lost property office. Return or shipping is at the Client's expense.
11. Force majeure
Neither party is liable for non-performance or delay resulting from force majeure, in particular: extreme weather conditions, closure of passes, roads or tunnels, avalanches, natural disasters, strikes, blockades, riots, acts of terrorism, decisions of the authorities, pandemics, accidents or breakdowns beyond its control.
VPT then informs the Client as soon as possible and offers, where possible, a postponement or an alternative solution. Sums paid for a service not performed are refunded, to the exclusion of any further compensation.
12. Liability
VPT is bound by an obligation of means.
Its liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damage resulting from fault attributable to it. To the extent permitted by law, indirect and consequential damage is excluded: missed flight, train or connection, loss of earnings, loss of opportunity, cost of replacement accommodation, cancellation of an appointment or an event.
The Client is advised to allow sufficient time before any flight, train or critical appointment, and to take out suitable travel insurance.
Except in the event of gross negligence or wilful misconduct, VPT's total liability is limited to the amount of the service concerned.
These limitations do not apply to personal injury, which is governed by the civil liability of the motor vehicle keeper (art. 58 et seq. of the Road Traffic Act, RTA) and the corresponding insurance.
13. Subcontracting and partners
VPT may entrust the performance of a service to a chauffeur or a partner company holding the same licences, insurance and quality standards, without this altering its obligations towards the Client.
VPT accepts no liability for services booked directly by the Client with third parties — hotels, restaurants, ski schools, helicopter — even where VPT recommended them.
14. Data protection
The personal data collected is processed in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and our privacy policy, which sets out the recipients, retention periods and your rights.
The Client has a right of access, rectification, erasure and objection, which can be exercised at info@valaisprestigetransport.ch.
15. Complaints
Any complaint must be sent in writing to info@valaisprestigetransport.ch within 30 days of the service, with a description of the facts and supporting documents.
VPT acknowledges receipt within 7 days and deals with it as quickly as possible. The parties endeavour to reach an amicable solution before taking any legal action.
16. Special provisions for taxi journeys
16.1 Framework
Journeys performed as a taxi fall under the type B municipal permit issued to VPT by the municipality of Monthey pursuant to art. 154 of the Valais Roads Act, and under the municipal taxi regulations adopted by that municipality.
A type B permit does not confer the right to wait at the taxi ranks reserved for taxis on public land.
16.2 Precedence of municipal law
In the event of conflict, the municipal regulations and, where one exists, the municipality's official tariff prevail over these Terms. Articles 5 (prices), 6.2 (deposit), 7 (cancellation) and 8 (waiting time) do not apply to taxi journeys.
16.3 Fares
Taxi journeys are charged by taximeter, in accordance with the municipal taxi regulations. Where the municipality sets an official tariff, that tariff applies and is displayed in the vehicle; no flat rate may depart from it, except in the cases expressly provided for by the regulations.
16.4 Service obligations
Within the scope of its permit, VPT complies with the obligations attached to taxi status, in particular taking the most direct route, accepting journeys within the limits of the regulations and accepting the payment methods provided for.
16.5 Distinction from private hire journeys
The Client is informed, at the time of ordering, of the regime applicable to their journey. Unless stated otherwise, any journey booked in advance at an agreed price is a private hire journey subject to articles 1 to 15.
17. Final provisions
17.1 Severability
If a provision is held to be void or unenforceable, the others remain in force. The provision concerned is replaced by a valid provision whose economic effect comes closest to that intended.
17.2 Changes to the Terms
VPT may amend these Terms at any time. The applicable version is the one in force on the day of the booking.
17.3 Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any contract concluded with VPT are governed exclusively by Swiss law, to the exclusion of conflict-of-law rules and the Vienna Convention.
Subject to any mandatory place of jurisdiction, in particular in favour of consumers, the exclusive place of jurisdiction is Monthey (VS), Switzerland.
